The Only Anti-Semitism the Left Can See is Criticizing George Soros

Daniel Greenfield, a Shillman Journalism Fellow at the Freedom Center, is an investigative journalist and writer focusing on the radical left and Islamic terrorism

Earlier this year, a photo was released of Obama posing with Louis Farrakhan.

Farrakhan is the head of an anti-Semitic hate group, he has praised Hitler and warned that the Jews, “can’t say ‘Never Again’ to God, because when he puts you in the ovens, you’re there forever.”

Obama had frequently met with Al Sharpton, an anti-Semitic demagogue closely tied to two bloody anti-Semitic incidents, the Crown Heights pogrom and the Freddy’s Fashion Mart arson, who had taunted, “If the Jews want to get it on, tell them to pin their yarmulkes back and come over to my house.”

Sharpton then went on to become a DNC speaker and a progressive MSNBC host.

Obama had appeared at Sharpton’s hate group, whose official had chanted, “Don’t give the Jew a dime.”

The Democrats never questioned or challenged Obama’s affinity for anti-Semites.

At the Kavanaugh hearings, Senator Cory Booker quoted Stokely Carmichael, who had famously said, “The only good Zionist is a dead Zionist we must take a lesson from Hitler.”

Again, nothing from the Democrats.

The leaders of the Women’s March praised Farrakhan. Despite that, Senator Elizabeth Warren and Senator Kirsten Gillibrand spoke at a rally hosted by two activists who had praised the anti-Semitic figure.

Gillibrand was introduced by Linda Sarsour, who had praised Farrakhan and warned Muslims not to “humanize” Israeli Jews. Also there was Farrakhan fan Tamika Mallory, who had responded to Jewish outrage by tweeting, “If your leader does not have the same enemies as Jesus, they may not be THE leader!”

Again, nothing.

In California, the Democratic Socialists of America and Feel the Bern have refused to condemn, revoke their endorsement or stop fundraising for Maria Estrada, who had not only praised Farrakhan, but accused Jews of exploiting the Holocaust, and attacked a Jewish Democrat for not keeping “your party, your religion and your people in check.”

“Anyone who believes they are one of ‘God’s chosen people’ automatically feels superior and justified in all they do,” Maria Estrada had ranted.

The DSA’s embrace of Estrada is unsurprising. At the DSA’s 2017 convention, delegates had enthusiastically cheered mentions of British leftist Jeremy Corbyn, a deeply polarizing anti-Semitic figure. Also present was a representative from a French leftist party led by a Holocaust denier.

The Democrats choose not to condemn the DSA’s anti-Semitism issues even though its candidates like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Julia Salazar, who had appropriated a Jewish identity to attack Jews, are rising through their ranks. And the Democrat media chooses to glamorize DSA figures instead of challenging their anti-Semitism.

The media doesn’t care about the normalization of Democrat anti-Semitism. Instead it decided that the one form of ‘anti-Semitism’ that it cared about was labeling critics of an anti-Semite as anti-Semitic.

George Soros.

Soros grew up in a “Jewish, anti-Semitic home”. He called his mother a “typical Jewish anti-Semite” who hated his first wife because she was “too Jewish”. He blamed Israel for anti-Semitism in Europe and argued that, “America and Israel must open the door to Hamas”.

“My understanding is that you went … went out, in fact, and helped in the confiscation of property from the Jews,” Steve Kroft asked Soros on 60 Minutes.

“Yes, that’s right. Yes,” Soros replied.

But Soros insisted that he felt no guilt whatsoever for his actions. “There was no sense that I shouldn’t be there, because that was well, actually, in a funny way, it’s just like in markets that if I weren’t there of course, I wasn’t doing it, but somebody else would.”

Soros described, what was a terrible time for most actual Jews as, “the most exciting time of my life.”

And he has defended anti-Semitism on the left, writing that, “The fact that constructive critics of Israel say things that, when taken out of context or paraphrased in provocative ways, can be made to sound similar to the comments of anti-Semites does not make them anti-Semitic.”

That’s the media’s radical billionaire poster child for anti-Semitism.

ThinkProgress, a Soros funded project, whose anti-Semitism had even been condemned by the Obama White House, claimed that Trump’s criticism of Soros was an “anti-Semitic conspiracy theory”.

At the Washington Post, Catherine Rampell whined that pointing out Soros’ funding of the left means that the Republicans are invoking everything from the Elders of Zion to Shylock. That’s a much more accurate description of some of Soros’ own history of blaming anti-Semitism on the Jews.

Worse still, Soros claimed that, “I also contribute to that image” of the idea that “Jews rule the world.”

It isn’t Soros’ critics who invoke anti-Semitic stereotypes by criticizing him. It’s George Soros doing it. Even when it comes to himself, Soros can’t stop excusing anti-Semitism by blaming it on the Jews.

It’s sad, pathetic and disgusting.

Soros has claimed that, “the pro-Israel lobby’s success in suppressing divergent views” causes anti-Semitism.

That’s a classically anti-Semitic remark.

George Soros is a sick and twisted human being. He also funds much of the left. And so the left is forced to defend him to defend itself. And it does this by attacking the critics of an anti-Semite as anti-Semitic.

This would be merely cynical if the left were actually opposed to anti-Semitism. But instead the left is mired in anti-Semitism, and it ignores the anti-Semitism all around it to try and silence critics of an anti-Semite by calling them anti-Semitic.

The only anti-Semitism that the left believes in its criticizing George Soros.

The media has shrugged off calls for the murder of Jews by Muslim clerics in California, North Carolina, New Jersey and Texas.

“Count them one by one, and kill them down to the very last one. Do not leave a single one on the face of the Earth,” an imam preaches in Jersey City.

The president of the mosque had been invited to the State of the Union by Senator Cory Booker.

It ignores the fact that the ongoing murder of Jews in Israel is being funded by American taxpayers.

Democrats continually denounce President Trump for refusing to fund the Palestinian Authority which boasts publicly that it “has killed 11,000 Israelis”.

The Obama administration sent billions of dollars in illegal shipments to Iran, an Islamic terror state that hosts Holocaust denial events and seeks to murder millions of Jews by developing nuclear weapons. It had previously supported the rise of violently anti-Semitic Muslim Brotherhood regimes in the region.

In 2013, a number of Senators met with the Egyptian Brotherhood’s President Morsi, who had previously been caught calling Jews the “descendants of apes and pigs”, mouthing along to a prayer to “destroy the Jews and their supporters”,  and calling on Egyptians to “nurse our children and our grandchildren on hatred” for the Jews. At the meeting, Morsi claimed that Jews run the media.

Despite that, Obama and Kerry continued to prop up his regime.

In 2014, Tunisian Islamist boss Rachid Ghannouchi was invited to Washington D.C. where he met with close Obama aide Ben Rhodes, Deputy Secretary of State William J. Burns and spoke at the Carnegie Endowment.

Ghannouchi had even endorsed the murder of Jewish children, saying, “There are no civilians in Israel. The population—males, females and children—are the army reserve soldiers, and thus can be killed.”

The Carnegie Endowment has received funding from the Soros network.

Sheikh Mouaz Alkhatib of the Muslim Brotherhood and the Syrian rebels, got an invite from the Obama administration to Washington D.C., despite having praised Saddam Hussein for “terrifying the Jews” and despite his website describing Jews as “Enemies of Allah”.

Biden and Kerry can both be seen meeting with Alkhatib.

If the left really opposes anti-Semitism, here are a few places to start in its own backyard. If it really wants to fight anti-Semitism, it should stop funding the murder and murderers of Jews. It should stop palling around with anti-Semites at home and abroad. It should call out Barack Obama, Cory Booker, the DSA, the Women’s March and every lefty personality and organization tainted by anti-Semitism.

Including George Soros.

But instead the left only opportunistically exploits charges of anti-Semitism to defend its financier. And that is its own form of anti-Semitism.

The only time the left cares about anti-Semitism is when it’s defending a hater of Jews.

Anti-Israel Left Defends "Jews Control Weather" Dem

Trayon White is the Washington D.C. councilman who claimed Jews control the weather. And then things got worse from there. He skipped out on a Holocaust Museum tour. And had donated to a Nation of Islam anti-Semitic event.

D.C. Councilmember Trayon White is under fire after he reportedly used constituent funds to make a donation for a Nation of Islam event in which leader Louis Farrakhan made anti-Semitic remarks.

The Washington Post reports that White (D-Ward 8) made a $500 donation on Jan. 29 from his Constituent Services Fund, which is supposed to be used for community causes to benefit D.C. residents.

The Ward 8 council member said he did not know about the donation, but defended the Nation of Islam’s work in the District.

And he’s done apologizing.

Who could be defending him now? The same people who will defend any anti-Semitic figure or cause aligned with the left. The anti-Israel left’s human shields who have Jewish last names.

Jews United for Justice, which had been one of the first to endorse White, put out a statement defending him.

Sophie Ellman-Golan, the Women’s March human shield, had previously been used to back Tamika Mallory’s attack on Starbucks for working with the ADL (which was not at all motivated by the ADL’s condemnation of her support for Louis Farrakhan and refusal to condemn his anti-Semitism.) And Ellman-Golan unleashed an incoherent intersectional rant in defense of Trayon White.

It’s upsetting that Trayon White left the Holocaust Museum halfway through his tour. It’s also upsetting that @washingtonpost sent a reporter to follow him and wait for him to fuck up in some way…the same way Black people are followed in stores when they’re trying to shop.

Because reporters following a politician in the middle of a scandal is racist. And it only happens to black politicians.

Reporting on the misdeeds of a black politician is just like following black people in stores.

I’m not saying that Trayon White didn’t make a mistake by leaving the Holocaust Museum early. He did. I also won’t say there isn’t antisemitism present in his behavior. It probably is. But Trayon White isn’t uniquely antisemitic. Antisemitism is everywhere. It’s all around us.

So we should ignore it.

Consider the way Trayon White’s mistakes have been fixated on. Consider who is allowed a redemption story and who isn’t. Consider who we’re focused on as a threat to Jews, on the very day that neo-Nazis are gathering in Georgia to celebrate Hitler’s birthday.

Whataboutism for everyone!

We should call out antisemitism. We should address and examine it wherever it shows up. We should do the same for anti-Blackness, and that includes the anti-Blackness that may be present in our responses to antisemitism. Antisemitism is all around us. Anti-Blackness is too.

Condemning anti-Semitism by a black politician is racist. (Unless he’s a Republican. In which case it’s completely okay.)

After Sophie Ellman-Golan was done embarrassing herself, her parents and her entire political movement, it was time for an even lower species of pond scum to play. Rafael Shimunov

Rafael Shimunov, the man behind Jews for Linda, embodies that many-faced interchangeability.

At a reading for an anti-Israel book, Rafael is identified as a member of JFRE. At a protest, he’s described as a member of If Not Now. He works for WFP and claims to be a “Jew of Color” (currently a lucrative proposition in an increasingly racist and anti-Semitic left) because his family emigrated from Uzbekistan. Every political organization that he worked for seems to have been funded by Soros.

That would be Linda Sarsour. Leftists with Jewish last names who will defend leftist anti-Semites is a booming industry.

The Working Families Party has a history with anti-Semitic candidates. And Rafael Shimunov tried to defend the indefensible. As only a leftist can do.

“The result is a massive amount of energy among many different types of DC folks and some Jewish leaders to attack him and drag and humiliate him,” Shimunov whined. “Trayon White himself grew up actually hungry. Actually without proper clothing.”

That’s what happens when the Jews control the weather.

“From that, read about his life, how he took to coach sports, worked with clergy, and mentored young people. Read about DC,” the WFP bigwig went on.

And let’s not forget his WWI track record and his love for his dog.

Then, Rafael Shimunov, claimed that the Holocaust Museum was some sort of fiendish trap. “There, you can judge by the reporting, this under educated Black man was followed by rich white people waiting for him to say something offensive accidentally. Over and over again, each exhibit a new trap.”

I hadn’t realized that a history of the Nazi persecution of the Jews was really a trap. You have to be a member of the Working Families Party to have a mind that sick and twisted.

Also much of the Post’s reporting on White came from Fenit Nirappil. Not a white man.

That’s followed by Shimunov equating poor black neighborhoods in D.C. to the treatment of Jews by the Nazis. “But the biggest gut punch here for me is that we are pretending Jewish education is showing brutal historical treatment of Jews in ghettos and ignoring that those ghettos exist today – in DC – and you stepped over them to attack a man representing them against all odds.”

These two things are exactly the same. America is just Nazi Germany.

The left hates America. And it hates Jews. It’s a violently anti-Semitic movement. It always was. And it always will be. That’s why it defends anti-Semites.

GQ Calls Mark Twain a Racist

When I want Great Books recommendations, it’s a tossup between turning to GQ, Elle or Joe Biden’s dumber cousin. But with Keith Olbermann gone, GQ needed to do something special to remind everyone that it was just Tumblr with more Mercedes and Rolex ads for the grown up Tumblrinas with jobs at ad agencies.

There’s always ruining Thanksgiving.

This Turkey Day, consider making life HELL for a few of your relatives.

Or literature.

This time it’s a list of 21 Books You Don’t Have to Read. Because GQ readers only read books because they have to. Or at least they pretend to read books because they have to. And this is really a list of books that its metrosexual hipster readers don’t have to pretend to have read anymore. And can just dismiss by calling its author a racist. (And a list of substitute books to have on the coffee table while Netflixing and chilling.)

GQ editors and their favorite angry writers imagine that the Western canon list of Great Books includes Lonesome Dove, Blood Meridian and Franzen’s Freedom. It’s typical of GQ, that the list is divided into books they were forced to read in school and books that were popular 10 years ago and they can safely mock.

But there are two specially stupid pit stops on the GQ literature tour.

The Lord of the Rings by J. R. R. Tolkien.. Instead: Earthsea Series by Ursula K. Le Guin

Perhaps Le Guin’s work—along with an entire universe of fantasy fiction—wouldn’t have been possible without Tolkien’s influence behind it, but in its time, Le Guin’s books are more influential and make for better reading.

Yes, that thing you like, but no one else has heard of, is so much more influential than Lord of the Rings.

The main event though is Caity Weaver, an ex-Gawkerite, turning in her book report on Huckleberry Finn.

The worst crime committed by Adventures of Huckleberry Finn is that it makes first-time Twain readers think Twain wrote tedious, meandering stories… Alternatively, read Frederick Douglass’s firsthand account of slavery, which is equal parts shocking and heartbreaking.

This is the stupidest thing any human being (and probably Weaver) has ever written. But wait…

Mark Twain was a racist. Just read Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. He was a man of his time, so let’s leave him there. We don’t need him. —Tommy Orange, ‘There There’

There you go.

Huck was once an ur text of liberals who wanted to expose the evils of racism and slavery. Then an anti-racist book was deemed racist.

Twain once famously claimed that conservatism was the worship of dead liberals. Then Leftism is the reviling of the men and women they once worshiped.

Sam was a man of his time. We have new men to worship now. And then hate. New gods to worship and kill.

Comey: Hillary Should Have Won

A shockingly unexpected opinion from the guy overseeing a bureau that gave Hillary Clinton a pass while training all its guns on Trump.

REMNICK: Do you think we’d be a lot better off with Hillary Clinton as president than Donald Trump?

COMEY: Certainly given her commitment to our traditions and our norms and our values and the rule of law, yes.

No one quite embodies the rule of law like a Clinton.

Speaking of, can Jimmy remind us of the last guy to fire an FBI director?

Our political norms, our traditions and our values, not to mention the rule of law, are best served by selling pardons to the highest bidder. Just ask the most honorable man doing a book tour right now.

How does Comey know Hillary’s commitments to our traditions? And which traditions are those? Compulsive lying, compulsive thieving and compulsive paranoia?

Does Comey mean America traditions, norms and values? Or lefty ones.

Does he mean the rule of constitutional law? Or the rule of the bureaucracy and its judiciary?

Natalie Portman and Jewish Celebrity Worship

Natalie Portman and Jewish Celebrity Worship

Celebrity worship is one of the sillier vanities of the age.

Adoring narcissists always ends badly. Because narcissists (celebrities as opposed to actors) are always drawn to what makes them feel good and adored. And that invariably turns out to be lefty politics. In the case of Jewish actors, that means going anti-Israel and anti-Jewish.

The obsession with Natalie Portman, a mediocre and annoying celebrity, kept on going even in Jewish Zionist circles, even when she made her views clear enough.

Yet she now thinks that she was slightly hoodwinked into not questioning the  actions of the Israeli state. As the government has become more right-wing, she has started to be a critical voice. She sees some of her previous opinions as being the result of her education, which she believes put too exclusive an emphasis on the Holocaust.

(Then there was her attempt at adapting Amos Oz.)

That was ’15. She still got the Genesis Prize. And if she had shown up, that would have been $2 million deposited into the accounts of the New Israel Fund and its anti-Israel groups.

It’s a useful wake-up call.

Israel has plenty of heroes. Actual heroes. It doesn’t need a fading lefty celebrity. There are the soldiers, past and present, who risked their lives, the civilians wounded in horrifying terror attacks, the paramedics who are the first arrivals on the scene of unspeakable atrocities, the children living in communities under terror attack who have been trained to run for bomb shelters.

Any and all of them are better people than Natalie Portman. And more worthy of respect and honor.  And far more likely to have the right values.

Stop caring what Steven Spielberg or Natalie Portman thinks. Start caring about what matters.

The Southern Poverty Law Center is Finally Being Held Accountable

The Southern Poverty Law Center is Finally Being Held Accountable

There are two inconvenient truths about the Southern Poverty Law Center. One is obvious. The other less so.

The obvious inconvenient truth is that the SPLC is a lefty group that doesn’t fight racism, but targets political opponents, and uses its past tussles with the KKK to link anyone whose politics it disagrees with to racists. That’s what it did with its latest attack on Sam Harris.

But that’s what it always does.

The less obvious inconvenient truth (to anyone who hasn’t read through reams of its garbage), is that it’s incompetent and sloppy. Despite its vast wealth, it’s the Snopes of lefty hate trackers, running on its brand, disinterested in the most basic fact checking, and doing little more than hiring bottom of the barrel people to write smears that fit with the current political agenda.

I ought to know because the Southern Poverty Law Center had added me to its list of anti-Muslim hate groups. Now even if we grant its ideological premise, an individual is still not a group.

And that wasn’t even the worst howler on that list. This was.

Until its closing, the SPLC hate map included Casa D’Ice signs, the sign hanging outside a Pennsylvania bar, in its list of hate groups.

So that list of hate groups was so thoroughly researched that it met Snopes standards. As was its entire hate map.

On Monday, the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) removed the historic Iowa town Amana Colonies from its “hate map” that inspired a terrorist attack in 2012.

The SPLC “had previously designated the historic settlement as the home of the Daily Stormer, a neo-Nazi and white supremacy news and commentary organization,” the Press-Bulletin reported. On Monday, one of the Amanas leaders received word that the SPLC had changed Daily Stormer’s designation to “statewide.”

The town had previously contested the claim, but the SPLC had stood by its marking the Amanas on the “hate map.” Why? The organization claimed “it had confirmation that a group of individuals met sometime in September 2016 at a restaurant in the Amanas.”

“The First Iowa Stormer Bookclub was a success!” a user with the screen name Concerned Troll posted in a September 26, 2016, thread. Concerned Troll did not provide specific details about the visit, but went on to suggest a subsequent meeting in Des Moines.

There are a legion of other examples. I’ve documented some of them over the years.

The default SPLC position used to be sneering at anyone who challenged the designations. Even entire town governments. But that changed as the lawsuit threats began coming in. And this is a big win.

he Southern Poverty Law Center has removed an online list of “anti-Muslim extremists” after British Muslim reformer Maajid Nawaz threatened to sue the SPLC over his inclusion on the list.

The list is the fourth article in two months the SPLC has deleted over accuracy concerns.

In addition to Nawaz, the list included Somali-born activist Ayaan Hirsi Ali, who advocates against female genital mutilation, among other issues. Ali blasted the SPLC’s “deeply offensive smears” in an August 2017 op-ed for The New York Times.

The SPLC wanted to be in the Islamophobia business because it was “hot”. But it had no idea what it was doing. That’s how it added me and a bar sign to its list. More recently its anti-Muslim list seemed to have been written by the usual Islamists. Or based on their work. And the Muslim Brotherhood is notorious for hurling Islamophobia charges at other Muslims. (It’s that Takfiri thing you know.)

And that was particularly stupid because, unlike me or Bosch, Pamela Geller or a bar sign in Pennsylvania (from a bar that has since closed), these are people who have supporters in the media.

So it’s time for some more retooling.

But now the SPLC is trying to get into the alt-right business, because that’s hot. It outsourced the job though to people who seem to be settling online scores. And that’s how Sam Harris ended up there.

The SPLC has a lot of money. As Matthew Vadum’s CPC’s expose notes.

The far-left Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) ended the last tax year with close to a half billion dollars – $477 million in assets – after taking in an astounding $136 million that year, the group acknowledges in a new IRS filing.

The SPLC has made a ton of money. But its old business, the KKK, gets less relevant every year. And it keeps trying to cash in on the latest trend without having a clue.

Now it’s finally being held accountable.

The K-12 Code Can Stop Political Child Abuse

The K-12 Code Can Stop Political Child Abuse

Daniel Greenfield, a Shillman Journalism Fellow at the Freedom Center, is an investigative journalist and writer focusing on the radical left and Islamic terrorism.

To order the Freedom Center’s latest pamphlet, “Leftist Indoctrination In Our K-12 Public Schools,” click here or to learn more about the Center’s Stop K-12 Indoctrination campaign, click here.

Hampton Middle School has a problem.

The school in Hampton, Georgia managed to make national news twice in one week.

A sixth-grade teacher from the school was caught on tape ranting against Trump’s slogan of Make America Great Again. “Maybe he’s talking about it was great during segregation in the ‘60s. Is that what he’s talking about?”

“He must be talking about when it was great for Europeans,” Johnetta Benton sneered. “Because when it comes to minorities, America has never been great for minorities.”

Josie Orihuela , the Cuban-American student who tried to argue with her teacher, was told that she had no right to complain because her European ancestors have killed millions.

The teacher, who was supposed to be talking about Black History Month, also claimed that all Americans were illegal immigrants who had stolen the land. “When you say immigrants are killing folks, that’s us. That’s you, you, you, you and you,” she said, pointing at the different students, including Josie.

Josie had been named after her grandfather, who had fled Castro’s Cuba, and had Cherokee ancestry.

And Corey Sanders, a 7th grade social studies teacher at Hampton Middle School, who was supposed to be teaching about Africa, Asia, and the Middle East, instead ordered students to write letters in order to “pressure lawmakers to have stricter gun laws in the United States.”

Georgia is a red state. But, despite that, students are still being brainwashed and berated. In Hampton, two students and their families stood up for their country and for their right to think for themselves.

But how many other schools and school districts are witnessing the same phenomenon? And how many students lack the courage shown by Josie? How many are too afraid to stand up and speak up?

“This activity took the wrong approach in limiting the ability of students to share any thoughts outside of what was directed of them when the subject elicits many different viewpoints from people, including students,” the school district spokesman correctly stated.

That’s exactly how education is meant to work. Teachers are obligated to teach children how to think, not to tell them what to think. But, at Hampton the school had failed to meet its obligation to its students and their parents. And this is unfortunately the case at schools across the country.

To prevent these abuses and return our public schools to their proper roles, the David Horowitz Freedom Center is fighting to bring the K-12 Code of Ethics to classrooms across the country.

The K-12 Code is designed to ensure that students have the resources and the freedom to make up their own minds by mandating that, “teachers must provide them with materials supporting both sides of the controversy, and present those views in a fair-minded non-partisan manner.”

Teachers can express their own points of view, but students must be allowed to “make up their own minds and to disagree with the teacher without incurring any penalty.” The K-12 Code of Ethics leaves plenty of room for inquiry. It protects the First Amendment rights of both teachers and students to express their viewpoints.

And it would have protected the students of Corey Sanders’ 7th grade class from having their First Amendment rights violated by being forced to advocate for only one side of a controversial issue.

The K-12 Code of Ethics bars teachers from advocating for a political candidate at any level of government – local, state, or federal – and from supporting or opposing legislation, court cases, or executive actions. It also bars partisan advocacy of a controversial issue. A controversial issue is defined in the K-12 Code as “an issue that is a point in electoral party platforms at the national, state or local level.”

Forcing students to advocate for only one side of the gun control debate would have violated the Code. And the code will be backed by a special review board which will have the power to hear complaints and impose disciplinary measures ranging from probation to suspension to the loss of a teaching license.

The K-12 Code doesn’t rule out a debate over gun control. Teachers can teach the controversies, but their job is to show students both sides of the debate and they must not advocate for only one side.

The Code also opposes the introduction “into class any controversial subject matter that is not germane to the topic of the course being taught.” Asking students in a class covering Africa, Asia, and the Middle East to write letters opposing gun control is a clear example of a violation of this sensible, ethical rule.

And, in a time when poisonous racist ideas such as “white privilege” have found their way off college campuses and into high schools, middle schools, elementary schools, and even kindergartens, racial scapegoating of the kind Josie experienced would also be ruled out by the K-12 Code.

The K-12 Code of Ethics makes it clear that teachers will not be allowed to “single out one racial group of students as responsible for the suffering or inequities experienced by another racial group of students.”

No student should ever be called a murderer because of their perceived race, as Josie was.

That kind of racism has no place in either the classroom or the 21st century. The K-12 Code doesn’t just liberate students to think for themselves; it protects them from being victimized as racial scapegoats.

Josie transferred from Hampton Middle School soon after her traumatic experience. But the K-12 Code of Ethics can protect other students from similar abusive experiences.

The K-12 Code of Ethics doesn’t censor. It doesn’t come down on one side of any issue. Instead, it protects students from being victimized by politically-minded teachers in the classroom. It doesn’t end debate or favor one side of the political spectrum: instead it ensures that students will be free to make their own minds without fear of consequences. It turns the classroom away from indoctrination and back toward an education appropriate for training the future citizens of a healthy democracy.

Support for the K-12 Code of Ethics is growing around the country.

In Virginia, Del. Dave LaRock introduced a resolution in the Virginia House of Delegates supporting the K-12 Code of Ethics.  He warned that educators are “imposing their own personal views” and “bullying kids that don’t agree with their liberal viewpoint.”

It’s time for the K-12 Code of Ethics to come not only to Virginia, but to states around the country, to all the schools where the First Amendment rights and the right to a bias-free education are being violated by classroom radicals.

No student should be bullied, enlisted in political advocacy against their will, or racially scapegoated.

The K-12 Code of Ethics shouldn’t be needed. Professional teacher organizations and unions should adopt them on their own. But these groups have become extremely partisan and are now part of the problem. The K-12 Code, enacted into legislation, will give parents a tool to protect their children from political child abuse.

Because what happened to Josie should never happen in another classroom ever again.

Fired VA Chief Stayed "True to Values" by Spending Taxpayer Money on Vacation

Fired VA Chief Stayed "True to Values" by Spending Taxpayer Money on Vacation

Fired VA boss David Shulkin is an Obama holdover. And a good example of why there should be no holdovers.

After being dumped for cause, he’s out there posturing as a hero fighting a conspiracy to privatize the VA. That’s usually been the Bernie Sanders line. And the spin by every VA death list apologist.

There have been no consequences for the folks, as Obama put it, who let veterans die while blowing the money that might have saved their lives on solar panels.

As many as 40 veterans had died while waiting for care and 1,715 veterans in the Phoenix VA Health Care System had waited more than 90 days for an appointment. A retired Navy serviceman died of bladder cancer after being put on a 7-month waiting list after blood was found in his urine. He finally received an appointment a week after his death.

But each and every year, from 2009 to 2011, the Phoenix VA Health Care System put in solar panels. The solar panels at the Carl T. Hayden VA in Phoenix cost $20 million.

That $20 million could have saved the lives of dying veterans. Instead it went to Green Energy.

The situation at the Phoenix VA wasn’t unique. In 2009, Obama had signed a Green Energy executive order. Secretary of Veterans Affairs Eric Shinseki announced that “in order to continue providing Veterans with the best health care and benefit services, VA must adapt to climate change.”

And then there’s Shulkin and his amazing European vacation.

“I came to government with an understanding that Washington can be ugly, but I assumed that I could avoid all of the ugliness by staying true to my values,” Shulkin claims. “I have been falsely accused of things by people who wanted me out of the way.”

Here are some of the ways that he stayed true to his values.

A scathing report released Wednesday criticizes Veterans Affairs Secretary David Shulkin for telling a subordinate to handle personal travel plans for him and his wife during an official trip to Europe. It also criticizes him for improperly accepting Wimbledon tennis tournament tickets as a gift during the trip.

The report, among other “serious derelictions,” also accuses Shulkin’s chief of staff of potential criminal conduct by making false statements and altering a document so that the Veterans Affairs Department could “improperly” pay for Shulkin’s wife to travel to Europe with him, at a cost to taxpayers of $4,312.

The report by the inspector general’s office of the VA says that a department worker “effectively acted as a personal travel concierge” to Shulkin and his wife for that trip to Copenhagen and London.

Shuklin and the VA made misstatements to the media about aspects of the trip, the report says, with Shulkin inaccurately claiming to a reporter that he had bought the tennis match tickets.

Inaccurate is one way of putting it.

Veterans Affairs Secretary David Shulkin’s chief of staff falsified an email so that the secretary’s wife could accompany him and his staff to Europe last year at taxpayer expense, according to an internal watchdog’s investigation released Wednesday.

According to the report by the V.A.’s Office of Inspector General(OIG), Vivieca Wright Simpson, the chief of staff, altered a subordinate’s email to misrepresent the purpose of the 11-day trip so that Shulkin’s wife, Merle Bari, could be reimbursed by the government.

Those values are so true.

nly three-and-a-half days of the 11-day trip were used for official business, the report said. Through interviews and documents, investigators found that the secretary and his wife took a boat tour of Copenhagen and toured two palaces and two castles while in Denmark. They also made an unplanned trip across the border to Sweden for dinner.

In London, the couple visited Buckingham Palace and Westminster Abbey, took a cruise, visited St. Paul’s Cathedral and Windsor Castle, among other places.

Now this isn’t atypical of government officials. But it’s outrageous from a part of the government that let veterans die to save money.

Finally, that report came from Inspector General Michael Missal, who had been nominated by Obama. Why would he be part of this “conspiracy”?

FBI Agent Busted for Leaking Terror Investigation Tactics to Pro-Terror Site

FBI Agent Busted for Leaking Terror Investigation Tactics to Pro-Terror Site

One word. Good.

Expect the media to lose its minds over this when it becomes a bigger story. And yet they’re the ones who have been shouting about collusion and the danger of leaking classified information to enemy states. The Intercept has spent much of its time regurgitating Qatari propaganda, it’s owned by a Persian billionaire and a key figure, Glenn Greenwald, is a Hamas apologist.

Its views on terrorism are entirely predictable.

The Department of Justice (DOJ) has filed charges against an FBI agent for allegedly leaking secret documents to a reporter, the Minneapolis Star-Tribune reported Wednesday.

The DOJ alleges that Terry Albury, a Minneapolis-based agent, shared a document on FBI informants with an unnamed reporter for a national media organization. In addition, Albury allegedly leaked a document “relating to threats posed by certain individuals from a particular Middle Eastern country.”

The Star-Tribune reported that the charges don’t name the reporter or news outlet involved. However, Albury allegedly shared the information between February 2016 and Jan. 31, 2017. The news outlet The Intercept published a piece on Jan. 31, 2017, titled “The FBI’s Secret Rules,” based on a trove of secret FBI documents.

If Secret Rules originated from the leak, then Albury deserves what’s coming to him. The files detail the investigative tactics that the FBI uses. Expect this stuff to become a manual for aspiring and current terrorists. It would have been bad enough if this had gone to the New York Times, but if he passed it to The Intercept, that’s almost as good as passing it on to the enemy.

Sessions said at the time that the DOJ, FBI and government intelligence agencies would direct more resources into the investigations of government leaks and would prioritize prosecuting those who pass sensitive information along to the press or foreign officials.

This sends an important message. The Obama era is over and there’s no room for a shadow government of Obama loyalists in the government.

And now, under Bolton, hopefully there will be some serious exposure of the NSC holdovers who have been leaking material to the media. It’s time to drain the swamp.

Roseanne Scored in Trump Country, Not New York or LA

Oude Media Nieuwe Media

Roseanne Scored in Trump Country, Not New York or LA

Deadline expects that Roseanne’s success will lead to soul searching by the networks. I wouldn’t count on it. They will revive old classic sitcoms. And they’re already on that. But these are not the viewers they want. ABC and CBS took steps to distance themselves from working class audiences in the heartland. They’ve been chasing “influencers” in the big cities of blue states.

They want these ratings. But not those viewers.

Roseanne made a triumphant return Tuesday night, blowing past projections with a 5.2 adults 18-49 rating and 18.2 million total viewers for the debut of its revival, which drew 10% more viewers than the original series finale 21 years ago.

That’s on the unusual side.

While nostalgia was expected to bring in eyeballs, no one predicted such a huge turnout on premiere night for the blue-collar family sitcom with a Donald Trump-supporting protagonist, especially among the younger demographic. But then, few predicted that Trump would become the Republican nominee and would win the presidential election when he first announced his candidacy…

Both Trump and Roseanne were able to tap into the often overlooked and underserved working-class audience. Not surprisingly, the top TV markets where Roseanne delivered its highest ratings were in states handily carried by Trump in the election. No. 1 was Tulsa in Oklahoma, which Trump won with 65.3% of the vote. It was followed by Cincinnati, Ohio and Kansas City, Missouri. The only marquee city from a blue state in the Top 10 was Chicago at No. 5 — the area where the series is set…

The top market of the country, New York, was not in the Top 20; No.2 Los Angeles was not in the Top 30. And yet, Roseanne delivered the highest demo rating for any comedy telecast in 3 1/2 years, since the fall 2014 season premiere of TV’s biggest comedy series of the past five years, The Big Bang Theory.

But networks want Big Bang Theory audiences, they’re much less interested in Kansas City and Cincinnati. Like Trump, they’re no doubt baffled by the phenomenon. But I don’t see them changing their business model.

But Roseanne went beyond that. Its youngest 18-49 viewers when the series originally aired on ABC from 1988-97 are now at the very top or outside of that ad-friendly demographic range, in which last night’s premiere posted a staggering 5.2 Live+same day rating with no lead-in. It came largely from new viewers who were children or not even born during Roseanne‘s initial run.

Somehow Roseanne transcended age, recruiting droves of young viewers for a show whose two leads, Roseanne Barr and John Goodman, are both 65, well outside of the 18-49 demo. It tapped into the zeitgeist of Middle America, tackling its economic problems — and political leanings — head-on. There was curiosity how Roseanne would address Trump, which the show did in the first episode. In an encouraging sign, the novelty did not wear off, with the second episode rating even higher than the opener.

There’s an underserved audience there. But don’t expect much.

The TV business always has been reactionary, so when something works, others immediately look for ways to replicate it. ABC, NBC and CBS all have classic sitcom revivals featuring the original casts on deck with Roseanne, Will & Grace and CBS’ upcoming Murphy Brown.

Will & Grace, and Murphy Brown will do great in New York and LA. They represent the urban elite sitcom that largely erased working class people from television. And that’s still what networks want. To the extent that even want sitcoms at all.

Meanwhile, if Roseanne continues to be a ratings juggernaut, ABC, which is close to renewing the revival for a second season, should look into bringing back its other big blue-collar sitcom hit of the 1990s, Home Improvement, which starred another open Trump sympathizer, Tim Allen.

That would make sense. But that’s also family entertainment. And networks are much less interested in conventional family stories anymore.

Strzok Texts Appear to Link Obama Chief of Staff

Strzok Texts Appear to Link Obama Chief of Staff

The Strzok-Page texts continue to be a gold mine of information. The information is often vague, but it sketches out a web of connections between key figures in Obamagate.

Newly uncovered text messages between FBI officials Peter Strzok and Lisa Page suggest a possible coordination between high-ranking officials at the Obama White House, CIA, FBI, Justice Department and former Senate Democratic leadership in the early stages of the investigation into alleged collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia, according to GOP congressional investigators on Wednesday.

The investigators say the information provided to Fox News “strongly” suggests coordination between former President Barack Obama’s Chief of Staff Denis McDonough, then-Senate Democratic Leader Harry Reid, and CIA Director John Brennan — which they say would “contradict” the Obama administration’s public stance about its hand in the process.

We know the Reid part already. The real question is when McDonough was involved.

Obama Inc. has tried to claim that their boss maintained a hands off policy on the investigation. But if his chief of staff was in on it, that would strongly suggest otherwise.

Page texted Strzok on Aug. 2, 2016, saying: “Make sure you can lawfully protect what you sign. Just thinking about congress, foia, etc. You probably know better than me.”

A text message from Strzok to Page on Aug. 3 described former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe as being concerned with “information control” related to the initial investigation into the Trump campaign. According to a report from the New York Times, Brennan was sent to Capitol Hill around the same time to brief members of Congress on the possibility of election interference.

Days later, on Aug. 8, 2016, Strzok texted Page: “Internal joint cyber cd intel piece for D, scenesetter for McDonough brief, Trainor [head of FBI cyber division] directed all cyber info be pulled. I’d let Bill and Jim hammer it out first, though it would be best for D to have it before the Wed WH session.”

In the texts, “D” referred to FBI Director James Comey, and and “McDonough” referred to Chief of Staff Denis McDonough, the GOP investigators said.

FOIA would be the Freedom of Information Act. This isn’t the first time that the Strzok-Page texts reveal similar concern for evading public accountability. This is not how a legitimate investigation is run.

49 was Average Age of March for Our Lives Attendees

49 was Average Age of March for Our Lives Attendees

Sorry, March for Our Lives isn’t the voice of a new generation.

It’s mainly the same middle aged women from the Women’s March with some photogenic teens out in front of the camera.

Whereas the 2017 Women’s March was 85 percent women, the March for Our Lives was 70% percent women. Further, participants were highly educated; 72% percent had a BA or higher.

Contrary to what’s been reported in many media accounts, the D.C. March for Our Lives crowd was not primarily made up of teenagers. Only about 10 percent of the participants were under 18. The average age of the adults in the crowd was just under 49 years old, which is older than participants at the other marches I’ve surveyed but similar to the age of the average participant at the Million Moms March in 2000, which was also about gun control.

Even more interesting, the new protesters were less motivated by the issue of gun control. In fact, only 12 percent of the people who were new to protesting reported that they were motivated to join the march because of the gun-control issue, compared with 60 percent of the participants with experience protesting.

Instead, new protesters reported being motivated by the issues of peace (56 percent) and Trump (42 percent), who has been a galvanizing force for many protests.

This is fairly typical of lefty protests.

Most of these protests are attended by regular protesters. The issues change, but the protesters abide. And new protesters are attracted by the usual broad opposition to the right rather than the specific issue. They don’t really care about gun control, but they hate Trump.

Peace sounds odd, but not too surprising if you understand the structure of lefty protest politics. Anti-war protesters are still the most reliable protest attendees. It’s why general lefty protests will still include the usual, “U.S. Out of Everywhere” and “Jews Out of Palestine” (and these days, (“Stop Yemen Famine”) components.
